Supporting We Are Beams Charity

On July 8, the 2025 BritNed Charity Golf Day took place at the prestigious Cave Hotel & Golf Resort, set amidst 167 acres of rolling countryside with the breathtaking backdrop of the Kentish North Downs. The event was held in aid of the We Are Beams Charity, a local organisation dedicated to supporting disabled children and their families in Kent and Medway.

The 6,591-yard course, meticulously designed with four par 3’s, ten par 4’s, and four par 5’s, arranged in two loops of nine holes, provided an exciting and challenging experience for all participants.

In total, 72 enthusiastic players took part in the event, making it a resounding success by raising over £7,000 for the charity. The funds raised will help We Are Beams continue their invaluable work, offering support and services that make a significant difference in the lives of the children and families they assist.

Competitions and Camaraderie

The day was filled with numerous competitions that added to the excitement and camaraderie among the players. Notably, three players successfully Beat the Pro, showcasing their impressive skills. Additionally, Liam from BritNed won the Longest Drive competition, a highlight of the event that drew applause from the spectators and other players.

“I am absolutely thrilled with the success of the 2025 BritNed Charity Golf Day,” said Rob Warburton, Dispatch Operator at BritNed, who organised the event.

“The enthusiasm and generosity of everyone who participated and donated has been truly inspiring. Thanks to their contributions, we raised over £7,000 for We Are Beams, which will greatly support their incredible work for disabled children and their families. I’d like to personally thank Roy Fuller for sponsoring the Beat The Pro competition, and for my colleagues Sharon and Raveena, who worked tirelessly all day selling the raffle tickets and keeping the players hydrated. Their efforts really helped increase the overall amount we were able to raise on the day. My heartfelt thanks go out to each and every participant and donor for making this day a remarkable achievement.”

A Decade of Supporting Charities

BritNed has been running Charity Golf Days for over 10 years, each one organised by Rob. In 2015, Rob organised BritNed’s first Charity Golf Day in support of Abbey Court Community Special Foundation School, which is a special school for pupils aged 3-19 with severe and profound learning difficulties. Rob’s daughter was a pupil at the school, and he led the efforts to raise funds to support a number of important projects, including a secondary rebound therapy room.

Since 2015, Rob has continued to organise BritNed’s Charity Golf Days, which have contributed to many important projects, including the refurbishment of a hydrotherapy pool and sensory equipment for Abbey Court. The events have also supported a number of other charities, including Demelza Hospice Care for Children, who ensure seriously ill babies and children continue to receive the care that they need when they need it most.

We Are Beams expressed their gratitude to BritNed and all the participants for their generous contributions and continued support. The funds will go a long way in ensuring that the charity can continue to provide essential services and support to those in need.

Since 2016, BritNed has also donated annually to the Airborne March in the Netherlands, which is the world’s largest one-day commemorative walk. The march commemorates the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944 and is a tribute to the 1,700 British and Polish soldiers who lost their lives in the battle and are buried at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.

The march takes place every year on the first Saturday of September in Oosterbeek and is organised by the Renkum Police Sports Association.
