Explicit auctions allow market participants to purchase capacity and electricity seperately and can buy tranches of capacity up to one year before the delivery day. Market participants will be able to bid for capacity rights on the BritNed Interconnector in both flow directions. To provide fair and open access, the regularly held explicit auctions will sell capacity rights with a maximun duration of one year and will auction the capacity in reasonably sized amount.
BritNed developed its own explicit auction platform: Kingdom®. Participants can bid for capacity rights in auctions running on Kingdom® in both flow directions. Auctions are held on a monthly and annual basis. Early next year year intraday auctions will be added to BritNed's product portfolio.
